The Nuuksio National Park location, being in such close proximity to the capital of Finland, Helsinki, is uncommon within Europe. Nuuksio has typical Finnish scenery, with lovely lakes, green forests and rugged crags. Nuuksio has one of the densest flying squirrel populations in Finland.
Sailfish OS 3.2.1 Nuuksio
We’ve included many reliability improvements in Nuuksio especially targeting Email, Calendar synchronisation and VPN settings. In addition to reliability improvements, the Email app now has enhanced support for handling HTML formatted messages. Audio routing for Android apps has been improved on Android app support 8.1, fixing issues with applications such as WhatsApp calls and Youtube. The operating system now supports hardware MPEG2, VP9 and h.265/HEVC video decoding (the exact support depends on the device).
For Sailfish OS 3.2.1 Nuuksio we’ve continued improving the Phone and Messages apps and the UI in general. The message bubbles gained a new visual style with related messages now forming visual groups to enhance readability. The address handling in the email and messages apps has also been improved, so you can now see recipient addresses, as well as having the option to easily remove unwanted recipients.
We’ve also progressed the call handling, developing an experience that’s optimal for one handed use. The view presented after the call has been concluded has been refined to include the follow-up controls at the bottom of the screen.
To enhance user security, the browser now includes a lock indication providing access to detailed information when a secure connection (HTTPS) is in use. The lock indicates whether the website connection is trusted or considered insecure. Tapping the icon will show more information about the website certificate, owner, issuer, expiry dates, and so on.
Several of the key improvements in Sailfish OS were developed in collaboration and contributed by Open Mobile Platform. With the help of our community we are also now able to add Vietnamese language support to Nuuksio, increasing an already long list of supported languages. Jolla appreciates the collaborative efforts of its partners and community who make Sailfish OS even better.

James, when will XA2 stop being serviced/receiving updates?
Jolla is committed to provide Sailfish OS updates for all released devices. For example Jolla 1 has been launched almost 6 years ago and still received the very latest Sailfish OS update. There may be exemption to certain features within a release, but we are doing our best to avoid these exemptions.
A really nice update, some welcome updates to the UI, like call ending and peoples app, but when will the minor bugs be worked on, that in total can ruin a SFOS experience. With this i mean f. ex. network loses, that at least for me became worse now, also a problem with updates for me, that apparently backups take up too much space, but the software does not warn of it, and after the update phone will lack, what happened to me with practically every update. What i also don’t understand, why can i by default just format a sd-card to EXT4, and later this format will not be accepted by some apps or the Android compability layer, it just makes no sense. Then i prefer paying 2 € more for ntfs support but having a everyday handling without problems, with that simple things as sharing media from my media gallery and so on…

We appreciate the feedback and we will look into the list you sent. The schedule of releasing certain fixes may vary depending on multiple factors. We can promise to do our best to keep Sailfish OS in as fault free as possible.
After having installed Ofono logger, network loosage got better, i realized that it might be in connection of not turning off wifi and getting reception of available but not known wifi networks. Since i always turn off my wifi before leaving home, it got better. Don’t see my previous comment as a critic, but more as feedback for the things which we have to work on, only if also average users get the feeling of a daily use OS, Sailfish OS will spread more widely, up to then we have to get rid off those “teething problems” 😉
With regards to NTFS, the users community has already a FUSE-based NTFS driver (NTFS-3G) available on openrepos.
(After checking, that driver compile for Sailfish OS is actually from me…)

Disclaimer: There are no known NTFS patents (so this shouldn’t be considered illegal anywhere), but Microsoft relies on secrets and non-disclosure agreements, and upstream NTFS-3G relies on reverse engineering.

Coderus’ “AlienDalvik Control” has a “Share to android” plugin for native Sailfish OS that correctly handles share stuff on the SD card (including Linux partition format like BTRFS) and make the card available at ‘/home/medi’ within the android aliendalvik layer.

I can not retrace networklosing or other problems. Maybe the cause of some of these problems lay somewhere else e.g. (mobile-)network, SIM-card(-reader), or other hardwaretrouble…

Hi there, nice update. But please update the browser very soon. With some websites like tripadvisor.com the browswer is nowadays nearly unusable and slow.
Most annoying is, to get a page displayed you have always to wait till the whole page is loaded. Other recent browsers display a page as soon as enough data has been loaded.

Between now and the usual next “New release of Sailfish OS” blog post, could you please try to make another “News from the devs’ trenches” like the last one you did about gcc/glibc/xulengine/etc. ? We find these very interesting and it would be great to know what the devs’ team is currently working on.
Sailfish OS has come a long way and this latest release keeps polishing the UX/UI in many aspects (It is definately maturing nicely for the most part!), but for one area that seems to have regressed: The remorse timer functionality
The new interaction with the remorse timer is a bit confusing at the start and is way more error prone. Tapping the wrong area by mistake removes the item immediately now… Be careful.
Other than that I have to thank Jolla for their hard work and commitment. Have a happy festive season!

I’m going to echo a request from DrYak and ask that you provide another “in progress” blog post between your releases. Sometimes there is a very long period of awkward silence; I think it would be better if there a post or two in between.

Entrys in my google calender show up multiple times on my phone (more than 10 times, number seems to be rising!). Anyone else with this issue?

James, I have been trying to flash the latest version of Sailfish OS my Xperia 10 with both Linux and Windows 10 to no avail. I implore you with my hands on my knees to make a step by step video on flashing. After all, if users are going to purchase your software, the least Jolla can do is provide instructional videos.

The final version of PinePhone by Pine64, as reported by various community members on TJC, will have the possibility to be shipped with third party OS *pre-flashed*, as part of a partnership program.

This has the potential of fixing a lot of the “I have troubles flashing my Sony Xperia”, also as the PinePhone is supported by mainline kernels, it won’t require Jolla maintaining android Baseports and it will be much easier to get kernel upgrades.

I’ve got a slight problem with the new after-call view – I often find myself tapping “Call again” by accident when I was really trying to tap “End call” button, since they appear in roughly the same space – those buttons should probably be moved higher (or at least add an option to disable them completely – I don’t remember ever using them at all).
First of all, thanks for your work. I’m using SFOS “Nuuksio” since a couple of weeks, and i’m quite satisfied, but…it’s really frustrating to use my Xperia XA2 being careful to install apps as less as possible, and without any possibility to save pics and video (shot with Open Camera or Advanced Camera) on SD card (ext4 formatted and correctly mounted). One more complain regards the annoying double tracking of pics/vids directories, to which it follows that using a gallery like Google Photo i see any pic/vid twice.
Could we expect that you fix these bugs as soon as possible?
One thing I would love to see for the next update is being able to use Duckduckgo as my default search engine.

I am owning Intex Aqua Fish similar to Jolla c in india. I have request please release the update for Intex aqua fish also. we also want to see the new development in sailfish as i can see there is great updates in sailfish 3.
