Dear Jolla community,
Looking back on a fantastic year, and thinking: we could not have done it without you!
We want to thank all you for supporting us so amazingly: our community, fans, customers, partners. You’re an inseparable part of Jolla, and without you we would not be here!
With all of your help we’ve managed to sail the Jolla ship all over the world with our Jolla smartphone, released into the world only a year ago. Since then we’ve managed to produce ten amazing software releases to Sailfish OS, launch local smartphone sales in Estonia, Kazakhstan, Italy, Hong Kong, India, and Russia, run a wonderful Jolla Tablet campaign in Indiegogo, and do a whole bunch of events, speeches, and meet lots and lots of you, virtually and in-person. We believe this all has really paid off, and we are now in a great position to enter 2015.
We really look forward to next year, and to continue working with all of you!
This Christmas we have decided to do the not so unlikely move nowadays, and skipped buying presents to you. Instead we’re supporting the Good Holiday spirit campaign by the Finnish Red Cross. This campaign helps low-income families with children during the Holiday Season time.
Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year to everyone!
On behalf of the whole Jolla Crew,
Marc
Thank you and you to a very happy christmas.
Hopefully you bring us 2015 a new smartphone (with a better but not bigger display!)
Yes, that would be brilliant!
I am waiting to spend some money.
A real top of the range phone!!!!!
And a Merry Christmas to you all,
Karl
Thanks a lot and best wishes for a merry Christmas and a Happy new year to all the Sailors 🙂
Best wishes for a peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year to all sailors
“…launch local smartphone sales in Estonia, Kazakhstan, Italy, Hong Kong, India, and Russia…”
Err, you’re missing quite a bit there, surely???
Hi MinnowDeckhand. These are the countries where we have formed partnerships and sell locally through either operator or other distributor channels. Surely you can buy Jolla through our shop.jolla.com from many more countries!
Please turn-off “moderated by default”, when it comes to comments.
That’s not the Jolla way, or at least the way you claim to be…
Thanks to all Jolla Crew for this fantastic 2014 year. Thanks Jolla staff for your passion, love and faith in what you are doing with Jolla and SailfishOS. Thanks for DIT, thanks for listening your first time fans and supporters.
Wish you great Holliday Season and a wonderful 2015 year ahead !
With love from France,
Chris
Happy Holidays, sailors! I hope there’ll be no unexpected winter storms. You all deserve a break. 🙂
It was an exciting year. I skimmed through the release notes of all the Sailfish updates: It’s just not the same phone anymore. With the short release cycle, I tend to forget how things were in Dec.’13/Jan.’14. Unbelievable what you’ve achieved. Add to that the carrier deals, new markets, Android launcher, hardware adaptations, tablet campaign… As an interested community member, I feel like there’s good news from Jolla on weekly basis. (Well, bi-weekly. Almost. 🙂 …) And I didn’t even count all the innovative 3rd party Other Halves that I spent my money on. *LOL*
I’m just very happy to see things turned out this way. It was a risk when I pre-ordered without even knowing hardware specs or having seen hands-on videos. I knew it could all go horribly wrong. You convinced me with the passion and your own excitement about the project. And I’m glad you did. 🙂
All the best for 2015!
happy holidays!!!!
Thanks for latest update it was really glad to have it….
a very stable update!!!
Amazing work you all did .. next year will bring the Tablet. Also looking forward to experience Sailfish 2.0
So happy holidays from a proud member of the Jolla community
Kiitos guys and Happy Holidays to you and the team 😉
**Merry Christmas and Winds to the Sails on 2015!**
A society will be judged by its capability to take care of the weak. Choosing to give to those who have little or nothing is the right thing to do as a company. The RedCross is a very good choice.
I sent my money to Médecins sans frontières because they need it to fight Ebola. They do it well. Let them see a miracle too.
I carry a small miracle in my pocket nowadays, thanks to you.
Together.
Merry Xmas to you and all other Jolla Sailors too!
Last year has been absolutely crazy at FunkyOH-HQ and that is partly due to all the love and help we have gotten from you guys! We are very grateful for this and it keeps us inspired to work hard and enjoy the ride.
Everything really took off last year with two crowd-funding campaign both smashing -to understate things- their goals. Seems like our dinghy has just started to raise it sails and isn’t even up to full speed yet!
Next year we will round the top mark, raise the spinnaker and take home the gold!
Love and best wishes
Dirk

Thanks for making this happen – been a N9 user until early this year, when it hit the floor again and screen went bust (had replaced the screen once – so seem that the first screen could take some more beating).
Got a new Nexus phone from my employer (for free) so have been running android lately – but now when your launching a new tab I just couldn’t wait any longer – so ordered both phone and tablet – the phone is in the mail, and I just can’t wait to get my hands on it and get back into “swype” style of doing things……..and not to mention the focus on privacy – that should be a big seller IMHO – now get in contact with Telenor in Norway and get your phones sold there as well – if possible, I know they where “exclusive” for the N9 in Norway when it was release.
Wish you all the best for 2015 and beyond, I really hope you are successful as I would hate to go back to another OS.
Happy Christmas, Thanks for the great work! I am loving the Jolla-experience, and the latest update was another huge improvement.
Here’s to an even better 2015!
Merry Xmas to all sailors from India. I am thankful for all your world to build an unique open product & platform. Looking forward to a great ’15 year and really hope that much more work happens and also in FOSS fashion (of course without losing any competitive advantage). And, Enjoy the vacation while it lasts! 😉
US release? Pretty please?
It was super cool that you are shipping the tablet to N America.
There are a lot of us Yankee Linux users who would love to have the phone
And a Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year to you and everyone else at Jolla too!
Merry Chrismas and thanks for Vaarainjärvi 🙂
Hyvää Joulua ja onnellista uutta vuotta! Have a good holiday, you deserve it!
Happy holidays, everyone!
There are numerous truly impressive gifted & talented people at Jolla. You do realise that just by looking at this blog, how beautifuly designed it is, as well as the sheer, magnificent splendour of this blog entry title picture. You’re all amazing.
Thank you.
Agreed with MinnowDeckhand, closed moderation of comments before publication is neither transparent nor respectful. It is a letdown and a bugger.
Hi mkld and MinnowDeckhand,
We’re taking a phased approach here, we first want to see what kind of discussions comments etc. our posts will get, and then as we’ve learned a bit, we’ll change this. Sorry, if you feel this is a letdown.
My best wishes to all of you for creating a company we can all admire. Let’s hope your example of passion and commitment to the ideals of excellence and authenticity inspire a global movement.
While I eagerly await my tablet, the sadness of being stuck on the N9 due to the lack of AWS 1700/2100 on the Jolla phone still remains. I very much hope that this will change with an upcoming model and I can one day join the other Sailors in up to date bliss! 🙂
Thank you Jolla for this great year, these amazing achievements and a wonderful smartphone. Merry Christmas!!
Hello JuhaniLassila,
Alright, that makes sense. Thank you for clearing that up.
Sail on!
